Top 5 Netflix Original Shows

Television is one of my all-time favorite pass times. I love watching tv with friends or binging one of my favorite shows on Netflix. In the last few years, Netflix has released some of the best TV shows I've ever seen. Whether it's comedy, SciFi, drama, or thriller, Netflix has had the upper hand on creating quality content for the viewers at home.

I tend to lean towards more SciFi/ Mystery when it comes to TV Shows, so many of my favorites fall in that category! If you're like me, these shows are must-sees for you!

1. Stranger Things

This show is by far my FAVORITE show on Netflix! Stranger Things is a Scifi show based in the 1980's in Hawkins, Indiana. It's about a young boy, Will Byers, that goes missing which introduces this whole alien-like, supernatural universe called The Upside Down. This show was made so well. Everything from the plot, characters and setting. Each episode is jam packed with quality content and story. This show makes me want to live in the 80's! The characters develop so well in Season 2. My favorite characters are Steve and Dustin by far. Definitely a must watch if you haven't already!

2. Haunting of Hill House

Okay, this show is CREEPY!! It's one of those shows that you can't help but watch one more episode even though it's absolutely terrifying. It has a few jump scares, but it's mainly all psychologically thrilling. The plot switches between three different timelines of 5 kids who lived in Hill House, a mansion that their parents were working on renovating. During their time in the house, the whole family experienced paranormal experiences- some that followed them after they moved out of the house. Each episode is filled with suspense as each character unfolds their story from Hill House. I was honestly so nervous to watch this after reading many terrifying reviews, but it was so good and had a great story line!

3. Black Mirror

If anyone has seen Black Mirror, you know how crazy this show is. No two episodes are the same, each having their own set of characters and plot. This show takes our society's obsession with and addiction to technology. It's like a taboo for television. Some episodes are a little wild, but it's a great show to watch! If you haven't yet, I also recommend the Black Mirror movie Bandersnatch where the viewer controls what happens in the movie. Some of the best Black Mirror episodes are: Shut up and Dance, USS Callister, and San Junipero.

4. Friends from College

Friends from College is a Netflix comedy about a group of friends from college and what their lives and friendships look like years later. This show is super funny but also touches on serious topics. I honestly hope my college friend group is still close like this (minus the drama) in years to come. Season 2 came out not too long ago and I'm looking forward to watching it!

5. Queer Eye

PSA: YOU WILL SHED TEARS ALMOST EVERY EPISODE. This show is more than just a makeover show. It touches on subjects like homosexuality, racism, religion, hatred in the church, death, breakups and more. This reboot is one of the best I've seen. All the guys are so nice and all the episodes are full of heartwarming moments. Seeing these men have much needed conversations about controversial topics brings this show to the next level. Season 1 and 2 are on Netflix and I'm dying for Season 3 to come out.
